Data Management National Community of Practice

Data Management National Community of Practice

To remain competitive in a data-driven world, organisations in Luxembourg need to manage their data effectively.

However, data management can be complex and requires competence and capacity. Although each organisation has its own data management practices, these remain internal and implicit. Unshared knowledge can lead to organisations missing out on available resources and best practices or repeating what others have already sorted out.

We have initiated the Data Management National Community of Practice service to facilitate knowledge exchange and coordination among Luxembourg’s data management professionals.

Goals and how to be part of the community

The community is open for participation from all individuals with a professional interest in data management and stewardship in Luxembourg.

The goals of the Data Management Community are to:

  • Be a medium for knowledge-exchange on best practices among data managers and -stewards.
  • Networking among Research Data Management Professionals in Luxembourg;
  • Raise awareness on national professionalisation of Data Stewardship.

The LNDS provides coordination and support services for the community, including community establishment, structuring, communications, agenda development, and events organisation.

As a community service, we all can benefit from each other – the more perspectives we have, the more we can learn from each other. Currently, the community consists of 148 data management professionals from various Luxembourgish organisations.

Learn best practices, avoid reinventing the wheel; together we are wiser!

Pinar Alper, Principal Data Steward, Luxembourg National Data Service

Community events

The Data Management Community organises online calls and hybrid workshops to exchange knowledge and best practices. We maintain the calendar of events, and aim for two events per quarter.

You can find information about upcoming and past community events here on our webpage and the LNDS LinkedIn page. All members of the community are the first to know about the events through the community emailing list.

In addition to knowledge exchange and events for the entire community, we also create focus groups to work on issues of particular interest to the community. Focus groups can do requirements gathering, landscape analysis, or draft national guidelines and position papers.
