A look into LNDS's diverse workplace

Active integration of the Diversity Charter for an inclusive workplace

At LNDS, we are dedicated to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace. Each team member brings unique expertise, strengthening our ability to manage impactful projects and support value creation for our partners. Last year, on 14 May 2024, we signed the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg, reinforcing our dedication to an inclusive work environment. We actively integrate the principles of the Diversity Charter into our daily activities, ensuring inclusivity remains central to our operations.

The Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg is a nationwide initiative that brings together organisations of all sizes and sectors to advance diversity across hiring, management, and workplace culture. By signing the charter, we made our commitment to join a community of 300 organisations and companies in Luxembourg, dedicated to creating fair, inclusive environments where everyone can thrive. Now, one year later, we reflect on a year of meaningful growth, action, and learning.

A diverse team that mirrors our values

2024 marked another year of impressive growth of the team. By the end of the year, our team had expanded from 34 to 61 employees. The rapid growth underscores our ongoing commitment to enhancing data services in Luxembourg. While the growth has been steep, the foundational base of our values and dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, has enabled us to build a strong team.

Today, our team already represents 35 nationalities and a good gender balance, with 38% of our team being women. Our team is also intergenerational, ranging in age from 23 to 66 years. This diversity of our team is not incidental, but intentional work of our team to reflect Luxembourg’s multicultural environment and our belief in the power of varied perspectives. Our diverse team gives us a unique strength: the ability to approach challenges from a multitude of angles. Each team member brings unique expertise and knowledge, creating a rich foundation for collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving. This in turn strengthens our ability to manage data projects and create societal impact by supporting data value creation for our partners.

The dynamic of the diverse team play out every day in the way our people learn from each other and push each other forward. While we recognise that the journey of a diverse and inclusive workplace is one of continuous work, these figures signals that we are on the right path.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion shapes our innovative and dynamic workplace. By embracing a multitude of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives, we cultivate an environment where creativity thrives and new ideas emerge. This openness to differences not only enriches our work experience but also drives our collective success.

Bringing diversity to LNDS

When we signed the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg, we made a clear statement: diversity and inclusion are an essential building block to who we are and how we work. In brief, diversity at LNDS is not just a goal to be reached. It is a value we live through our behaviours, decisions, and shared culture.

Over the past year, we have turned our vision of embedding inclusion into the daily reality of our organisation with tangible actions. Inclusion informs how we build trust, how we grow our teams, and how we contribute to a workplace where everyone feels welcome, respected, and empowered. Here is a few examples of how we have brought diversity to life within LNDS:

  • Charter commitments integrated into daily life
  • Whether in recruitment, onboarding, project collaboration, or team events, we approach the topic through a “diversity lens”. From recognising different cultural events to encouraging multilingual communication, we have taken steps to ensure every team member can bring their whole self to work. For example, we support the diverse identities of our colleagues, by bringing our cultures to the workplace. This take the shape of potluck lunches and encouraging colleagues to bring delicacies to celebrate important events of their culture.
  • Community involvement for social impact
  • Over the past year, we have continued to encourage our Social Impact Days initiative. The Social Impact Days allows our people to dedicate up to two paid workdays per year to engage in social work or community service of their choice. Team members have participated in various cultural and social impact activities. From contributing at a charity market, to volunteering abroad, to promoting clean sport at the Olympics. These stories highlight the unique ways our people foster a strong sense of community and social responsibility among our team, and make tangible difference in our local and global communities.
  • Inclusive team culture through SAFe
  • With the full adoption of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), our flat and collaborative structure continues to support a culture where every idea can be heard and every individual can take ownership. This approach has strengthened team dynamics and helped dismantle traditional hierarchies, making space for contributions from all corners of the organisation.
  • Understanding ourselves and each other
  • Diversity does not end with representation, it thrives when paired with empathy and understanding. That is why our leadership team engaged in training to deepen awareness of how different people work, communicate, and collaborate. These insights have helped foster mutual respect and stronger, more inclusive working relationships across all teams.

An inclusive workplace is an ongoing journey

Signing the Diversity Charter gave us a formal platform to express what we believe: that diverse teams create stronger outcomes and more resilient organisations. In the past year, we have taken meaningful steps, capturing data, raising awareness, and adapting our structures. As the team grows and develops, so does also the work for an inclusive workplace. In the years to come we continue building on our strong foundation. At LNDS, diversity and inclusion is and remains the base for how we grow, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to make societal impact – for our people and our partners.
